Hi!

I'm a faculty member at the Department of Architecture of Bilkent University (BUDA).

 

I received my PhD in Art, Design, and Architecture from Bilkent's Institute of Economics and Social Sciences. During my Ph.D., I got to spend a semester at Queen’s University Belfast’s School of Architecture, Planning, and Civil Engineering (now the School of Natural and Built Environment). I pursued my postdoctoral research at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies (CIM) at the University of Warwick. I have an undergraduate degree in Architecture from Gazi University and an MFA degree in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design from Bilkent.

My research is interdisciplinary and lies in the intersections among urban, architecture, memory, media, and environmental psychology studies. I've published in the Journal of Urban History, Space and Culture, Praksis, and in some books, and presented at international conferences.

Since 2010, I've taught a variety of courses from freshmen to graduate level. Currently, I teach design studios and lectures in architectural social sciences. I'm always looking for ways to make my courses more critical, inclusive, and healthy. In fact, I was nominated for the Bilkent Distinguished Teaching Awards in 2021.

I love traveling, writing personal essays, taking photographs, and illustrating. I exercise pretty regularly. I am childishly fascinated by people’s stories. I have a specific interest in psychology, and I take online courses to train myself. I’m also a continuing student in philosophy. I have hyper empathy, and I’m a good listener. Hopefully, one day, I will get a degree in psychology!
